What is the RMS an Peak Power of a 2006 Kicker zx1000 class D amplifier.? I was looking around an found that amp, it said the RMS =1000, an the Peak=2000. But the new 2008 zx1000 only pushes 1000 Peak an 500 RMS, plus twice the price. The 06 is $260 an the 08 is almost $400 so why are the watts different, also which one is better?

jazza replied: "That don't seem right For the zx1000 it should have 1000rms at 2ohm. But the 08 will be better a they are way underrated so it would put out around 1000rms any way so i would go with the new one."

inktownlegend replied: "the wattage should be the same (it likely that the site you are looking at has the wrong specs) they BOTH have 1000watts RMS @ 2ohms and 500watts RMS @ 4ohms and not stable below 2ohms-- the price is different because one is older (like when an car changes years, the price of the older drops even if they are exactly the same) save your cash and get the older model"

Class D amplifier design? Hello, Can anyone please recommend a book or a site that will help me in the design of a Class D switching amplifier that can play both low and high frequencies. Thanks.

Masteropie replied: "There is no book that focuses on class d audio amplification specifically. The closest you will get is books on switching power supply and pulse width modulation. Designing a good class d amplifier is quite hard, impossible if you don't have a the proper test equipment. There is a class d forum on that contains just about everything you need to know. If you have a question i am sure they will be glad to help. You can find kits and schematics on"

What are the disadvantages of hooking up a high end set of components to a Class D amplifier? Ok, I know higher end A/B amplifiers have the high pass crossovers built in to the amp and usually have the 12/24 octave option. My question is if you have have a high end component system, would feeding it raw power from a Class D amp have any adverse effects on your components. For arguement sake let us say we use my favorite brand of components, Focal, and hook up a set of the Focal K2P components to a 2 channel Class D amp rated at 100watts x 2 @ 4ohms. The Focal component set includes crossover, tweeter and midrange and is rated at 100watts RMS @ 4ohms (per side). If someone were to purchase a Class D amp with no type of crossover or maybe even only a low pass crossover built in (optional to use if you choose), will the crossover in the component set ensure that the components are taken care of? Your thoughts guys??? If the crossover in the component set takes care of everything then why don't we use Class D for everything given they are more efficient... Alpine - If I had the power to delete your answer I would. But I guess I'm just going to have to thank you for your educational and much appreciated elaborate answer... r0llin - Where is your proof? How can you come at me with a response like that with no reference or any kind of back up to support your arguement? Sounds like your just making assumptions based on your inexperience. Can anyone intelligent that knows what they are talking about answer this question? Sparky? Can you and your A.S.S degree help with this question? Sparky - By god that is exactly what I was thinking. Power is power.

Alpine Audio replied: "The price."

r0llinlacs replied: "umm class d amps are meant for subwoofers and subwoofers only. class d amps have only low-pass cross-overs and are mono sound. they are also a little less accurate sounding, as they are made for subs. it would not make any sense at all to hook components up to a class d amp."

sparky3489 replied: "Technically, a 2 channel Class D amp is rare. Most class D amps are mono. That aside, power is power. It doesn't matter what class. What matters is the crossovers. The included component crossover will do just fine."

MB Quart DSC1000.1 1000 Watt RMS Class D Amplifier??? RMS Power Output @ 4 Ohms : 350 Watts x 1-Channel RMS Power Output @ 2 Ohms : 500 Watts x 1-Channel 1-Ohm Capable Minimum QUESTION.......... My sub will do 1100w RMS @ 1 Ohm, so is this amp capable of delivering 1000w RMS @ 1 Ohm stable????? {could I rock it all day?}

Mighty E replied: "minimum 4-gauge power/ground cable and a properly built enclosure. you could rock that at 1-ohm. just make sure it's in a ventilated location when you mount it. not stuffed between the box & back seat. overheating would be my only concern on this one."

where is the gain on the mtx mono block class d amp 300xd? >
Evil Rondy replied: "It should be close to the RCA inputs."

ohm replied: "Here's a link to the page for the 300XD via mtx.com; -Check out the main picture on the page. The gain is the knob to the far left (out of 4). Hope this helped!"
